Dave's World Cup

Dave's World Cup

Reggae Boyz not as easy as they may seem.

In comparison to England and the Republic of Ireland, Jamaica seems to be a team Australia should beat. However that's the attitude England took into the game against the Socceroos back in February and the result was a thrashing on their home turf by a nation that isn't as established as they are. So should Australia be complacent about tackling Jamaica on Sunday afternoon?

Jamaica, otherwise known as the Reggae Boyz, currently sit in 45th place in the FIFA world rankings while Australia have slipped from 50th to 68th in the last two months. Australia's narrow loss to Ireland helped Australia fall another 5 places in the last rankings.

The Reggae Boyz have also had a little bit of form behind them, recently making the semi-finals of the Concacaf Gold Cup (losing to Mexico 5-0). Australia's most recent match has been a loss to Ireland.

Form is definatly on Jamaica's side but the Socceroos aren't ones to be pushed over. ireland had to come from behind to defeat them in what was a tough match.

Both sides have named preliminary squads. They are as follows:

Jamaican Reggae Boyz:
Donovan Ricketts, Shawn Sawyers, Michael Johnson, Frank Sinclair, Tyrone Marshall, Craig Ziadie, Damion Stewart, Omar Daley, Jamal Campbell-Ryce, Theodore Whitmore, Ricardo Gardner, Trevor Benjamin, Onandi Lowe, Barry Hayles, Kevin Lisbie, Ricardo Fuller, Fabian Taylor

Australian Socceroos:
Zeljko Kalac, Mark Schwarzer, Steve Laybutt, Jon McKain, Ljubo Milicevic, Kevin Muscat, Lucas Neill, Tony Vidmar, Marco Bresciano, Steve Corica, Scott Chipperfield, Vince Grella, Paul Okon, Josip Skoko, Mile Sterjovski, Stan Lazaridis (to be confirmed), Brett Holman, Harry Kewell, Mark Viduka
