Womens World Cup groups drawn

FIFA have drawn the four groups that will take the field at the 2003 Womens World Cup, being held in the USA.

The host nation have been drawn in the tornaments group of death, facing off against Sweden, Nigeria and darkhorse North Korea. This makes up group A.

It was a decent draw for Australia meanwhile, despite drawing 2 of the three teams they faced at the last womens world cup. Australia will face international powerhouse China as well as Ghana, the two teams they will meet once more in the group stages. The other country Australia will face is Russia. While the group is by no means easy, it's certainly not out of reach for Australia to progress. They will play in group D.

The two remaining groups include womens european giants Norway taking on Brazil, Korea Republic and world cup finals debutants France in group B.

Group C consists of Germany, Japan, Argentina and the USA's fellow CONCACAF participants Canada.
