Tragedy at the Confederations Cup

The FIFA Confederations Cup has seen the death of one of the games brightest stars overnight. Cameroon international and Manchester City midfielder Marc-Vivien Foe has died aged 28.

The Cameroon star was playing against Columbia in the Semi-Final overnight when he collapsed in the middle of the field with a little over 17 minutes remaining on the clock. It is unkown as to why he collapsed but medical officials were busy trying to revive Foe after they believed he may have swallowed his tounge.

Medics took Foe to a medical centre where they attempted to revive him. After an hour he was declaired dead.

The tragic incident marred what was an interesting match with Cameroon coming away 1-0 winners thanks to a 9th minute goal from Pius Ndiefi.

In the following Semi-Final a mark of respect was given as a minutes silence was observed for Foe. A second mark of respect was given by France after they scored the first goal. Thiery Henry bringing the rest of his squad together to point to the sky for the Cameroon international. Fracne progressed to the final against Cameroon after defeating Turkey 3-2.
